Winners of a competition hosted by KLM Airlines and Airbnb will soon have the unique opportunity to stay in a jet plane converted into a hotel room. The retired KLM Royal Dutch Airlines jetliner has flown around the world around 3,675 times and has since been turned into a delightful home away from home consisting of 4,000-square feet of space decked out with a master bedroom, seven bathrooms, a private cinema, two fully-equipped kitchens and a play area for children. Unfortunately, the contest winners might be the only guests to ever enjoy the prize as it will serve as a hotel for three nights only – between November 28 and 30.
The living room area is outfitted with stylish and serviceable furniture, perfect to lounge around.
A plan of the space reveals a play area, making this the most kid-friendly plane you’ll ever see! Rumor has it the plane holds seven bathrooms and two kitchens. Can we just live here forever?
The room is outfitted with a comfortable double bed. The air plane hotel also boasts a home cinema.
A long table is served by mismatched chairs lends a shabby chic feel to this dining space.
The plane is filled with décor items and knick-knacks to replicate a real life hotel room.
For the duration of the stay, the plane will remain grounded at Amsterdam’s main traffic hub. Those with a fear of flying will certainly love this plane!
AirBnb certainly has gone through a lot of trouble to make this a memorable stay for the lucky guests. This is in keeping with their promise of offering unique travel experiences.
Someone, tell us where we can sign up for this contest!
