New York City is the most expensive city in the world to visit


While Paris maybe the world’s most expensive city in the world, it is the Big Apple aka New York City that rules the roost when it comes to being the most expensive city to visit. The city that is home to some of the priciest colleges and also considered to be the most expensive city in USA has topped hotel provider Hotels.com’s bi-annual hotel price index. The average price per room per night in New York City is a cool NZD 345 ($234). So if a budget trip is what you seek, you had better scratch New York City off your list of places to visit.

Following New York and coming in second on this list is Venice, with average room charges per night coming to NZD 323 ($233).
The city that will play host to the 2012 Olympics, London comes in at number three with average room rates per nights coming to NZD 287 ($208).
The USA, Washington DC, is number four with average room charges per night to a cool NZD 286 ($207).
Rounding off the top five and tying with Washington DC is the romantic city of Paris, with average room charges per night, said to be around NZD 286 ($207).

6. Rome – average room charges per night: NZD 280 ($202)
7. Boston – average room charges per night: NZD 274 ($198)
8. Milan – average room charges per night: NZD 268 ($194)
9. Dubai – average room charges per night: NZD$257 ($186)
10. Cape Town – average room charges per night: NZD$253 ($182)
