Move over Etihad – Singapore Airlines has raised the bar with their swanky new ‘bedroom’ suites

Singapore Airlines will debut their hotly anticipated new Suites on the Singapore-Sydney route in December. After four years in development, the airline has made improvements across the board with changes in Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class; but it is definitely the addition of the plush new Suites that promises to be a game changer.

The Singapore Airlines Suites promise a personal oasis complete with lavish furnishing and finishes including a separate full-flat bed with adjustable recline and plush leather chair. The leather upholstered seats are adjustable using an electronic control side panel while the swivel capability of the chair, as well as its capacity for 45 degree reclining, allows for flexibility.

Travelling as a couple? No problem, the beds in the first two Suites of each aisle can be converted to form a double bed. And if you’re a frequent flier, you’ll appreciate the lengths the airline has gone to in order to ensure to give you consistently good flying experiences: KrisFlyer members traveling in Suites will be able to control the lighting in their private cabin, and save their lighting preferences for future flights.

Suites fliers will receive amenity kits containing items from Lalique. A fragrance and a lip balm will be common to kits for men and women. Other items in the kit for men are an aftershave balm and body lotion while the women’s kits will contain a hand cream and facial moisturizer. A separate unisex kit containing lifestyle items has been designed as a collectible item, featuring a Lalique candle, scented soap, lip balm and body lotion. For a limited period only, the lifestyle kit will also include a miniature ornamental crystal fish from Lalique.

Suites are outfitted with a 32-inch full HD monitor, a full-sized personal wardrobe, customized handbag stowage compartment, amenity box lined with soft leather, specially designed carpet and a feature wall with mood lighting. Two lavatories are available for suites one of which actually has a sit down vanity counter. Even the dining experience in Suites is pretty luxe with Wedgwood dinnerware and Lalique crystal glassware.

Singapore Airlines Suites will be introduced to five new A380s on order with Airbus. Retrofit work will start in late 2018 on the 14 existing A380s that will be fitted with the new products, with all targeted for completion in 2020.
