Inflight safety videos tend to put the most attentive of listeners to sleep, so it’s hardly a surprise that airlines are looking for ways to make their safety videos more interesting. Just last month, British Airways debuted one such video filled with funny cameos from big name Brits like Rowan Atkinson, Gordon Ramsay, Jim Broadbent and Chiwetel Ejiofor among others. This time it is Singapore Airlines who have revealed an in-flight safety video that takes travelers on a tour of Singapore before the flight even takes off.
The video follows the adventures of the Singapore Girl as she travels to the cosmopolitan city’s most famous landmarks such as Boat Quay, The Intan Peranakan Home Museum, River Safari, Haji Lane, Adventure Cove WaterparkTM, Henderson Waves, Capitol Theatre and Gardens by the Bay. At each spot, a different safety measure is demonstrated.
The video marks a collaborative effort between Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board and while it truly reminds you to do basic things that you’ve heard any number of times before, it accomplishes the goal in an engaging way.
“It is like taking our customers on a walk through Singapore,” said Elizabeth Quek, the member of SIA’s cabin crew who represents the Singapore Girl in the new safety video. “The locations featured in the video help show Singapore as a modern cosmopolitan city with unique culture and heritage, and I am honored to be part of this wonderful journey.”
The new in-flight safety video will be screened on SIA flights from the end of the year.
