The Force is certainly strong with the latest addition to the Star Wars saga; The Force Awakens will be hitting theatres in a few months but the buzz around the movie is getting quite intense. Disney has pretty much assumed that the latest in the franchise is going to be a hit and is already prepping the world for the first ever Star Wars themed park; all I have to say is, what took them so long!
Announced at the recent D23 EXPO 2015, Chairman and CEO Bob Iger broke the news to over 7,500 attendees that new Star Wars-themed lands, to the expanse of 14-acres, would soon be opening at Disneyland park in Anaheim, California, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The areas in these parks would comprise of a never-before-seen alien planet, a remote trading port and more. One of the rides that I’m sure almost every single Star Wars fan in the galaxy would be looking forward to is that which lets you pilot the fastest ship in the galaxy, the one and only Millennium Falcon, as part of a secret mission. I’d like to stand in line right now please…
It was reported that Iger had this to say at the announcement – “We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”
As exciting movie-related announcements go, this one is very high up on the list, immediately following the announcement that a new Star Wars film, with original characters returning, was confirmed. The galaxy that was once far, far away will soon be a lot closer than we thought.
