If indulging in a bit of nostalgia sounds like a plan, head over to Airbnb and book yourself a stay at the world’s last Blockbuster video store in Bend, Oregon. The iconic shop is currently offering three one-night reservations in September, as stated by the brand’s store manager – Sandi Harding.
As part of the experience, the store will be done up with a pull-out couch, cozy bean bags, and re-runs of ‘new releases’ from the ‘90s” to make you smile. Pepsi and Popcorn will be made available to the guests along with a surplus of nibbles including Gobstoppers, Nerds, Raisinets, and Laffy Taffy. Needless to say, the entire space will be sanitized, with masks, hand sprays and disinfectants available in every corner.
Commenting on the experience, a press release read: “In appreciation for all that the local community has recently done to support the last-of-its-kind during these uncertain times, this end of summer sleepover will offer movie lovers in Deschutes County the chance for a 90s-themed stay to relive the bygone Friday night tradition just as we remember it.”
Deschutes County residents can book their stays at the iconic blockbuster store onward August 17 for just $4 (for September 18, 19, and 20). If you’ve had enough of the Netflix grind, this could be a good opportunity to rewind and relive the good old days!
