Way back in the 1970s, Chopard designer Ronald Kurowski was inspired by the sight of droplets glinting in the sun at a waterfall to create Chopard’s famous Happy Diamonds design concept. Since then, we’ve seen the theme of moving diamonds incorporated into several watches and reinterpreted in different ways. Now, on the 40th anniversary of Happy Diamonds, Chopard has created a new timepiece inspired by the very first Happy Diamonds watch.
The women’s watch features a cushion shaped case whose dial is encircled by prong set diamonds. The famous “happy” diamonds freely move across the watch’s textured mother-of-pearl dial; these are larger rocks than we’ve seen before in a Happy Diamonds design and there are also more of them than usual. In the center of the dial, a mini-subdial –with its own halo of tiny diamonds- bears the watch hands. We don’t have any word on the price yet, but we’ll definitely keep you posted.
