From starting off as an accessories label and gradually moving to menswear and women clothing, Tom Ford sure knows how to conquer the varying departments of style with ease. And this time around, the label has its eyes set on luxury watches as a prime new product. The brand has recently teamed up with Bedrock Manufacturing Company, the parent of Shinola and Filson for shaping up a novel watch collection under the Tom Ford name.
The resultant Tom Ford timepieces will be designed, manufactured and distributed in close collaboration with Bedrock. Tapping on to the watchmaking expertise of founder Tom Kartsotis, the watches will be created under the thorough supervision of Bedrock’s team and its manufacturing partners. In response to the brand’s extension, Ford opined that, “Watches have long been an obsession of mine and I have been waiting for the perfect moment in our brand development to introduce this category and have also waited for the perfect partner.” Vouching for Kartsotis as an ideal match for the project, he further stated, “His passion and expertise in the industry are unparalleled and I could not be more excited to embark on this venture with Tom and the team at Bedrock.”
The Bedrock founder indeed holds an enriching history in watches, evident from having founded Fossil in 1984, by further growing it into a billion-dollar public company. As for the Tom Ford timepieces, they will retail via limited distribution and quite obviously under the “luxury timepiece price bracket.”
