Christian Dior’s fetish for grand balls has taken a new form. After launching the Dior VIII Grand Bal collection last year with the “Dior inversé” calibre, the luxury brand is back with new additions expected at BaselWorld 2012. This year, you can expect five unique timepieces in gold and black, or white ceramic, all set with precious gems and in sparkling colours. The 38mm dial watches sport high-tech black or white ceramic and white gold dials, with18-carat yellow gold hands, 0.06 carat rose-cut diamond crown, and stones encrusted on the bezel finished with ceramic bracelet sporting pyramid links.
The first model is named Grand Bal Haute Couture Model N°1 and it sports a black Australian opal dial with the bezel encrusted with 60 baguette tsavorite garnets from Kenya and a black braclet.
The second watch is the Dior VIII Grand Bal Haute Couture Model N°2 with a balck Atrina mother-of-pearl dial encrusted with 227 pink sapphires, and a bezel set with 60 baguette amethysts from Madagascar, finished with a black bracelet.
The third watch in this round up is the Dior VIII Grand Bal Haute Couture Model N°5 with a white jade dial encrusted with diamonds and emeralds and the bezel set with 60 baguette sapphire from Nigeria ad a white bracelet.
As of yet Dior has shared only three of the five new one-of-a-kind timepieces.
