Girard-Perregaux celebrates the launch of its new e-commerce platform with a limited edition Laureato Absolute watch

Girard-Perregaux has introduced a new limited-edition variant of the Laureato Absolute sports watch to celebrate the launch of its e-commerce platform. Called the Laureato Absolute Wired, the special edition takes a very futuristic approach with a case fashioned out of carbon glass. Although the 44mm case follows the classic Laureato formula, the use of the exotic, futuristic material has completely transformed that character of the timepiece. The material is formed by joining alternating layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass together under immense heat and pressure, which is then milled to the desired shape. The whole process not only gives the material its unique textured look but also makes it extremely durable and lightweight. It weighs only 94. While the main body of the case gets a matte black mixture, the bezel is enriched with electric blue shine.

To match the dark theme of the watch, it comes with rectangular black PVD titanium pushers and a matte black caseback also made of carbon glass, engraved with the Laureato Absolute logo. Powering the timepiece is the in-house GP03300-1058 automatic chronograph movement that offers a power reserve of 46-hour power reserve at a 28,800 bph beat rate. Completing the look of the Laureato Absolute Wired is an integrated fabric effect rubber strap in black that is strong, flexible, and feels more comfortable to wear. Priced at $17,700, only 88 examples of the watch will be made and will only be available for purchase on Girard-Perregaux’s new e-commerce platform. “Despite turning 230 years old Girard-Perregaux has no intention of remaining stuck in the past. In fact, launching e-commerce is just one of the many moves Girard-Perregaux will make in 2021 that reflects our philosophy of constant improvement and striving to maintain a competitive edge,” says CEO Patrick Pruniaux.
