Hermes, the renowned fashion label, has introduced an attention grabber – the Clipper Sport Orange wristwatch. Though there exists other color options in blue and red, other than orange, the bright statement-making color seems to be a favorite sell out option with the brand – bag, ties, and iPad case, inclusive of an exact look-alike from the stables of brand – the Clipper Automatic Chronograph. I can’t really make out what is new in the recent entrant Clipper Sport range. Although technical specs-wise, both differ, design-wise, the duo seems like mirror images of each other. We would have been more impressed if Hermes had given us a more creative choice. However, the Clipper Sport Orange, crafted in Switzerland, is a clear extension of the Clipper line. It features an emblematic bezel inspired by the portholes of the great 19th-century sailing ships.
Complex work with materials seems to be the highlight of the watch after its trendy appearance. Set in a 41 mm case, the mechanical self-winding movement watch wraps itself in a bimetallic case construction featuring the case-back and bezel in steel and the case-band made of titanium. Hermes branding wisely adorns the rubber strap and the dial, which features large Arabic numerals.
A triangular marker at 3 o’clock in the same bright orange palette as the strap and the seconds-hand marks the date. Other features in the watch include dagger-shaped hours and minutes hand, 21 jewels with a frequency of 28,800vph/4Hz water resistance up to 10 atm, 42 hours power reserve, and a 17mm safety folding clasp steel.
