Hublot Sprit of Big Bang comes in a new tonneau shape

Hublot has announced the launch of their new Big Bang watch with a tonneau shaped case. Named the “Spirit of Big Bang” this watch is given a tough luxe look with titanium screws, two strap attachments and the crown with the brand’s signature letter H on its profile. The watch boasts Hublot’s well known luminous hands that appear to ‘glow’ in the dark; the baton indices are also filled with SuperLuminova a non toxic, non radioactive substance that gives the watch indices a stronger luminescence than traditionally used materials. The watch’s sapphire dial allows the intricate skeleton movement to be visible.

Unique in its case construction, the watch employs a ‘sandwich’ principle which creatively uses materials and colors enabling a staggering range of combinations which are further improved in appearance by its satin-finished sides and micro-blasted areas. The watch is a one-of-a-kind in the Big Bang range. The watch also showcases a fusion of materials like titanium, ceramic and King Gold (18 K gold with 5% platinum which gives it a deeper red colour) as well as rubber and alligator skin.

The life of this piece is the new HUB4700 movement, based on a Zénith El Primero chronograph “chassis” with date (frequency 5 Hz, 36,000 beats per hour, 278 components, 31 jewels). This movement bears the distinction of historically being regarded as one of the best Swiss chronographs ever developed. The watch features a date window positioned at 4.30, a central chrono seconds hand and three timers at 9 o’clock (seconds), at 3 o’clock (30 minutes) and a small one at 6 o’clock (hours). The finishing touch is provided by an alligator strap with a rubber base that ensures comfort, flexibility and durability. Available in four versions, the watch is water resistant up to 100 meters.

Though the new shape is a departure from traditional Big Bang designs, the Spirit of Big Bang has generated much interest among watch enthusiasts.
