The Swiss watchmaker Hublot got to serious business to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the amfAR’s contribution to AIDS research in a mega gala staged at New York. Prominent personalities in former US president Bill Clinton, Diane Von Furstenberg, and amfAR Founding International Chairman Dame Elizabeth Taylor were honored. However, what took the limelight was the launch of the special, limited edition of timepieces for men created by Hublot. The special limited edition of Big Bang Black Magic, featuring just 100 pieces, has a small 44mm black ceramic case and bezel and houses a self-winding chronograph movement and rubber-alligator strap.
The evening also featured a live auction where the winner was awarded the first piece of this stunning creation and a hamper of gifts he or his partner wouldn’t forget too soon. It included a trip to Geneva with a three-night stay at the Mandarin Oriental with a partner, a private tour of the Hublot factory where the winner can pick the watch, handed over by Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver. The package was auctioned off for $75,000.
