Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 36 Flyback Racing at Baselworld 2013

Tag Heuer’s celebration of 50 years of the Carrera continues with its latest 2013 Carrera Calibre 36 Flyback which will be featured at Baselworld 2013. TAG Heuer’s modified version of the classic chronograph movement, Zenith El Primero -the Calibre 36 movement, is featured in the Carrera for the first time.

The new model looks at the 2011 Heuer Mikrograph design with a tinge of the new Ceramic Bezel Carrera 1887 added to it. Like the Mikrograph, the time is read from the inner dial (hence the shorter hour and minute hands), while the outer ring is purely for reading the elapsed time of the Chronograph, which comes in a 43mm diameter classic Carrera case.

Expecting a retro-inspired model to mark its 50 years, Tag Heuer’s Carrera is totally a contrasting model with its contemporary edgy look. The Carrera 1887 Ceramic Bezel similarity is drawn from the outer ring, which features double Arabic minutes with a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock, and a date window at 6 o’clock. The timepiece has a “sunburst” Anthracite silver finish, but the titanium model has a black sunburst dial without a contrasting outer ring. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire smoked display back, and water-resistant to100 meters. The strap provided is perforated black leather with a folding clasp and safety pushers in titanium.
