Vacheron Constantin, the world’s oldest Haute Horlogerie manufacturer with over 250 years of uninterrupted history, has cemented its Bond with China by opening its third Flagship boutique in the nation. The new Flagship boutique is located at 1881 Heritage, the revitalized site of Hong Kong’s famous government building. A perfect location, the 1881 Heritage like Vacheron Constantin, is dedicated to preserving its traditions while integrating itself into the contemporary lifestyle. The new boutique resembles or is in line with the design of Vacheron Constantin Maison in Geneva and is subtly decorated with a contemporary luxurious interior design harmonizing with the brand: precious wood, leather, and fixtures and furnishings emanating a warm and serene atmosphere. What is more, to celebrate the new store’s opening and commemorate the strong relationship that Vacheron Constantin has with China, the manufacturer has introduced a very exclusive limited series of 3 “Dragons” watches.
These timepieces featuring dragons on the dial, a Chinese symbol of prosperity, creative and divine strength, are hand-made with Métiers d’Art ancestral Guilloché work. The motif stems arise from the use of two alternating machines: one to engine-turn straight lines; and the other curves and circles as if on a lathe. As a result, the design consists of irregular lines and many details with variously colored and metalized coatings. The boutique will display some of the most beautiful timepieces, including Vacheron Constantin’s first-ever watch, an enameled dial pocket watch created in 1755 by the founder himself, Jean-Marc Vacheron. At the gala opening event, watch connoisseurs and press members were invited to a private luncheon and dinner held at the Peninsula Hotel. There, the Garden Suite was transformed into a time tunnel. Adorning its walls were impressions of the brand’s major milestones and timepieces.
Each of the “Dragon watches” will be available in only 9 numbered pieces, only at 1881 Heritage in Hong Kong, Vacheron Constantin Mansions in Geneva & Shanghai and Vacheron Constantin boutique in Moscow. The opening of the new flagship store and the special edition watches are sure to strengthen the bond between China and Vacheron Constantin.
