5 times influencers stooped very low for the sake of likes

1. JAYNE RIVERA

INSTAGRAM

Jayne Rivera must’ve felt dejected at the loss of her beloved father as she wrote in her post, ‘Butterfly fly away. Rip Papi you were my best friend. A life well lived,’ but the pretty influencer failed catastrophically at showing it.

INSTAGRAM

Her actions were dubbed as ‘vile,’ ‘disrespectful,’ and downright disgusting by followers who couldn’t fathom why someone would pose in front of their deceased parents’ casket (while the parent is inside it!)?

INSTAGRAM

It wasn’t a candid picture for those thinking it could be a misjudgment, but a well-planned shoot that saw the social media influencer giving typical photoshoot poses as often spotted on Instagram. The gazing directly into the camera shot, smiling, and even the typical glancing over the shoulder shot made it to the Funeral photoshoot on the gram.

INSTAGRAM

Jayne Rivera understood it the hard way- her followers ‘don’t want to know everything about her life, and that was apparent when a large chunk of followers unfollowed her after the distasteful funeral photoshoot. No longer does the Miani-based influencer enjoy 84,800 Instagram followers and 307,300 TikTok followers.

INSTAGRAM

The model decided to don a trendy black suit dress featuring one long sleeve and stockings in the photoshoot. She is yet to give her response on the backlash, though sometimes silence is truly golden! Fortunately for her, she has since shut down her Instagram account to manage some damage control following the PR nightmare.

2. STREET SPEED (MIKE HYSSONG)

INSTAGRAM

A couple of months back, YouTuber Street Speed 717 posted a video of a brand new, 702-horsepower Ram TRX that was jumped and trashed to get more clicks on his channel. Rich kids destroying expensive vehicles to get more attention on social media is becoming all too common..

INSTAGRAM

Mike’s channel has more than 1.1 million subscribers and is known for creating such videos, including the one in which he jumped a previous-gen Ford F-150 Raptor over a Hummer back in November 2020. But it turns out the American YouTuber, whose real name is Mike Hyssong, has landed in some legal for his stunt with the Dodge pickup truck.

INSTAGRAM

Mike says in his latest video that the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has brought 18 criminal counts against him for filming the video, which includes two counts of disturbance of waterways and watersheds, six counts of pollution of waters, six counts of littering near waters, and another four counts of running a vehicle in a stream.

INSTAGRAM

The YouTuber goes on to justify by saying that the stunt was carried out on private property and no damage was done to the environment. He also claims that the vehicle didn’t leak anything into the stream, which could be poisonous to fish.

3. OCEANE EL HIMER

INSTAGRAM

A classic case of ‘Insta vs. Reality’ has emerged online, after an influencer was caught out by fans while appearing to fly business class. French model and reality TV star, Oceane El Himer, 27, uploaded the Instagram photo of herself in the plush surroundings of the business class cabin of a flight from Dubai to Monaco last week.

INSTAGRAM

With a face full of heavy makeup, hair extensions in the perfect place, a Boohoo tracksuit, and a Dior bag in tow made for a pretty convincing picture of a business-class traveler. The stunning selfie doesn’t look out of place on Oceane’s Instagram feed and blends without raising suspicion; only this time the image was far from the truth.

INSTAGRAM

Oceane’s cover was soon blown by a fan who spotted her sitting in economy seats and posted the photos on Twitter.

INSTAGRAM

While this incident can be termed hilarious it does raise the question- Are influencers under tremendous pressure to entertain and maintain a high-flying lifestyle? Will fans abandon them if a lack of wealth or a practical existence is posted instead of designer bags and luxe pool villas?

INSTAGRAM

While Oceane El Himer simply posed to be richer than she is, Florid-based Instagram influencer Danielle Miller took things a bit far to impress fans with her lavish lifestyle on social media with a $100,000 fraud.

INSTAGRAM

Oceane first found fame starring in the reality TV show Les Princes et Les Princesses de l’Amour (the Prince and Princess of love), Les Marseillais, about affluent people who live in Marseilles, and an adventure show, Les Apprentis Aventuriers.

INSTAGRAM

The fan posted the image of her flying in economy with the caption: “Oceane El Himer en éco mdrrrrrrr [Oceane El Himer in economy lollllllll].” The star has blocked comments on the image which has still raked in more than 100,000 likes.

4. SERGEY KOSENKOV

INSTAGRAM

Sergey Kosenko shared a video on his Instagram handle of him driving through Moscow in a Bentley with his other half tied up on the roof. The couple was tied up with a pair of handcuffs, making the driving bit harder, unsafer, and only added to the binding discomfort the woman must be feeling up there.

INSTAGRAM

Sergey, who has five million followers, got away with this absurd stunt for a fine of just 750 rubles ($10). Evidently, the $7 penalty made no difference to the man as he later took to Instagram and made light of this in a sarcastic post.

INSTAGRAM

He said: “I apologize. Ilona also apologizes. It’s a shame to lose RUB 750.” The post was received as nothing but a desperate plea for attention by Netizens.

5. JESS HUNT

INSTAGRAM

As much as people were shocked to see a Florida-based fitness influencer do a photoshoot with the open casket of her father, they were just as annoyed with influencer Jess Hunt for photoshopping herself in front of the Eiffel Tower.

INSTAGRAM

It’s just the blatant need to lie topped with undermining the intelligence of your followers that irks most people. Influencers, especially, should know how eagle-eyed their followers are, and sooner or later, netizens always expose the hidden truth.

INSTAGRAM

Though admittedly stunning, she was posing on the Pont d’Iéna, the bridge that leads to the world-famous Parisian landmark in a skimpy, sheer dress. People quickly pointed out that Jess had superimposed herself into the images, and they even noticed a very evident lack of shadows everywhere she strutted.

INSTAGRAM

One user commented, “She’s literally got no shadow anywhere.” Another one joked, “I too travel with Photoshop,” joked one person, while another maintained, “Her feet are floating.”

INSTAGRAM

Many of her 1.5 million fans appreciated her glam look; even with the towering Eiffel Tower behind her, it was difficult to take eyes off the beauty. She did post a video strutting in front of the wonder of the world in her defense, but many did not buy it irrespectively.

INSTAGRAM

‘These pictures weren’t Photoshopped; I was genuinely there,’ Hunt said. ‘I even have a video on the Instagram post of me in front of the Eiffel Tower,’ she added.
