John Lennon’s famous round glasses are going to be up for auction soon. The singer and Beatle sported the iconic glasses for much of the 60s and 70s and is seen wearing them on the cover of Let It Be and Sgt Peppers’ Lonely Hearts Club Band. In fact, round tinted glasses have become almost a symbol of the disco era’s carefree attitude. In recent times, the Olsen twins have popularized the use of round frames in sunglasses. Auctioneers expect the glasses to fetch over £10,000 ($15,500). However, we’re convinced that these glasses will be overshadowed by other items up for auction which include the documents recording the Imagine singer’s 1968 divorce from his first wife Cynthia.

Auctioneer Paul Fairweather said: “This was his favorite type of glasses. If you look at the pictures of John Lennon in the 60s and 70s he used to wear them all the time. What’s nice is that they also come with a really strong story. There have been glasses of Lennon’s sold before but none have ever had a story as strong as this one.” Reportedly Lennon had given the glasses to his housekeeper whose brother wanted a pair to wear to a costume party.
