Sotheby\u2019s is known to auction some of the best gems ever. While we have seen many stunning pieces on its worldwide sales, rarely have we come across a star that has the ability to keep us hooked forever. Recently though, the auction house made an express announcement about selling a rare pink diamond, that also touts at being the largest of its kind in the world!

The \u2018Raj Pink\u2019, as it is called will be sold at the Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels sale in Geneva this November. Named after it\u2019s anonymous current owner, the mother of all diamonds weighs in at a huge 37.3 carats. It is also certified as \u2018fancy intense pink\u2019 by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), that up until now has accorded the coveted status to only 0.2 percent diamonds in the world! A representative at the GIA further quoted, \u201cFor a diamond to display strong, unmodified pink color like that observed in the Raj Pink is rare, particularly at so considerable a weight\u201d.<\/p>\n
Thrilled at the opportunity of its sale, Sotheby\u2019s chairman David Bennett was also heard saying, \u201c\u201cThe discovery of any pink diamond is exceptional, but the Raj Pink\u2019s remarkable size and intensity of color places it in the rarefied company of the most important diamonds known.\u201d The pink wonder is expected to fetch anything upward $30 million and will be displayed in London, Singapore, Hong Kong (October 23 and 24), Taiwan and New York, before finally making it to Geneva in November.<\/p>\n
