Hermes is building a new identity as a respected watchmaker if their latest launches are anything to go by. In particular, the brand has been building a profile for their Slim d’Hermes watch, steadily adding increasingly stylish pieces. Now with the launch of a GMT edition of this classic, the company usually known for their equestrian roots is courting travelers and jet-setters.

Some notable features jump out immediately; the case is made of palladium rather than the usual white gold or steel. The slate-colored dial features the GMT counter in silver at 10 o’clock and the guilloche date counter at 6. The unconventional font (certainly a departure from Hermes’ other timepieces) was created by French designer Philippe Apeloig for the Slim d’Hermès collection.

Two windows labelled L and H (local and home) act as the day and night indicators. A blue window indicated night while white indicates daytime. The watch is powered by the Hermès H1950, which is a mere 2.6mm thick. The GMT feature is only possible because of the ultra-thin module created by Agenhor for Hermes. You can view the thin movement through the sapphire crystal caseback. A matte alligator strap with blue stitching is the finishing touch on this timepiece.
