Yes, there are many beaches in Thailand; yes there is ample marine life too and surprisingly the very very rare ‘whale vomit’ also seems to be turning remarkably commonplace. A few months ago, one struggling Thai fisherman found the world’s biggest blob of whale vomit worth a staggering $3.2 million and yet another Thai fisherman lucked out when he found a lump of ambergris aka whale vomit worth an estimated $320,000. Good luck strikes Thailand’s shores yet again as a 49-year-old woman from Thailand, Siriporn Niamrin, found whale vomit worth almost £186,500 ($270,000) near her beach house. She spotted this strange lump after a rainstorm on the coast of Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand. Her oval-shaped find weighed 7kg, was about 12 inches wide and 24 inches long, which she found barely 500 meters away from her home. Siriporn is now waiting for experts to visit her house to confirm that the lump is actually ambergris though she knew the process to check its authenticity and held a naked flame to some of its parts in her neighbors’ company. The lucky woman said: “If I really have genuine ambergris, I can help my community once I find a buyer for it. I feel lucky to have found such a large piece. I hope it will bring me money. I’m keeping it safe in my house, and I have asked the local council to visit to check it.”

The product ambergris is highly valued as it is an expensive ingredient used to make scents long-lasting. It is an ingredient used in luxury perfumes such as Chanel No5 and is an extremely rare product of the sperm whale.
