\nThose who thought they wanted to \u201clive like a queen\u201d will have to think again. According to latest reports, even the Queen of England is down to her last million. And while I\u2019d be glad to have a million to begin with, for Her Majesty, it equals overspending courtiers and royal palaces that are \u201ccrumbling\u201d.

\nIts true! The Commons public accounts committee has discovered that the Queen\u2019s advisers are failing to control her finances. Meanwhile, the staff protects art and antiquities by catching rain in buckets. Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are reportedly in urgent need of repair even as advisers of the Queen have overspent to such an extent that her reserve fund has fallen from \u00a335\u2009million in 2001 to just \u00a31\u2009million.<\/p>\n

According to Margaret Hodge, the Labour chairman of the committee, \u201cthe household must get a much firmer grip on how it plans to address its maintenance backlog. It has not even costed the repair works needed to bring the estate back to an acceptable condition.\u201d Clearly not!<\/p>\n

At this rate, the Queen\u2019s old boilers will continue contributing to bills of \u00a3774,000 a year, over $1 million! Guess we know where them last \u00a31\u2009million will be gone!
