Enjoy the First Ever IMAX Movie Experience on the High Seas Aboard Carnival’s New Vista Cruise Ship

Cruise ships are getting bigger and bigger all the time and each company works painstakingly to outdo the competition. CARNIVAL is no stranger to pushing the envelope to beat out the competition and on their latest ship called the Carnival Vista, they’ve got a World’s first in the form of an IMAX theatre.

While movie theatres are no big deal on a cruise ship, an IMAX experience, that towers three decks high, certainly is. It’s the first for the industry and quite an innovation. The theater will screen the latest in Hollywood blockbusters as well as documentaries and IMAX Classics that have been shot in the IMAX format.

Come May 1, 2016, the Vista will hit the high seas for a 13-day Mediterranean cruise pushing off from Trieste, Italy to Barcelona. This would effectively end the company’s three-year absence from Europe. With all of its 133,500 tons stretching across 1,055ft in length, and the ability to accommodate about 4,000 passengers, the Vista is set to debut as the biggest cruise ship in the Carnival fleet.

Aside from housing the world’s first high-seas IMAX experience, the Vista will also feature a suspended, open-air cycling circuit that’s been created to offer riders panoramic views of the ocean around them. Also on-board is the Florida-based company’s first on-board brewery and a secondary movie theater with ‘multi-dimensional’ facets that would include live special effects. I guess it’s time to go crusin’!
