From trolleys to seats to the cockpit rescue rope – Airbus is auctioning pieces from its iconic A380 superjumbo

If you’re an aviation buff, this piece of news is for you! Airbus is giving you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an authentic piece of the A380- the legendary aircraft that is but the best culmination of engineering, technology, and customer experience in history!

The marquee will give away parts of an A380 MSN13 (that entered service in 2008). As part of the process, the airplane was carefully deconstructed, and more than 500 items were recovered. These include seats, stairs, handrails, paddles, trolleys, lamps, and the cockpit rescue rope – all of which will be available for sale.

Proceeds from the auction will go to The Airbus Foundation and will be used for facilitating charitable initiatives worldwide and supporting general interest projects. Some of the proceeds will also be donated to the AIRitage association which works toward preserving aerospace heritage.

Although the A380 components are works of art by themselves, some of the pieces have further been beautified by artists elected by Airbus. Specializing in street art, the chosen creators have transformed various parts of the aircraft into colorful and meaningful symbols.

If you’re interested to purchase a piece of aviation history, the Airbus A380 auction will take place on October 13, 14, and 15, both in Toulouse, France, and online. Registrations for it are now open on the brand’s official website.
