Football heads can go to any depths to meet their favorite players. And in proving this as true, a die-hard fan of American quarterback (for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League) -Tom Brady recently paid a grand $800, 000 to have dinner with his idol. Yes, that’s right!
The coveted dinner date was part of an auction package which included four tickets to Brady’s first home game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the quarterback’s jersey and cleats from the game and a workout in lieu of the promised dinner afterward. The sale took place on April 28 and was part of a series of celebrity and athlete offerings in the ‘All in Challenge’ fundraiser (created by Fanatics founder and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin) which aims to feed those who in need during the pandemic.
Commenting on it, Rubin in a statement said, “The country misses their sports and the country misses their athletes,” while further adding, “We have a responsibility to make a real difference.”. In addition to Brady’s package, other auction items included a game of golf and dinner with NFL Super Bowl winner Peyton Manning, which closed at $525,000 and a day out with Hall of Famer Magic Johnson which attracted a bid of nearly $100,000. The proceeds from the auction were directed to Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry.
