Uninhabited Japanese island of Mitsuko is now up for sale

If you have survived the recession and still have excess money after purchasing your very own island at Dubai, then why not go east and try for a private haven in Japan? The Local Finance Bureau at Chugoku has decided to auction the government-owned and uninhabited island of Mitsuko located in the Seto Inland Sea, which lies around a kilometer off the coast of Hiroshima Prefecture.

This competitive auction is the first of its kind. The sale will include all unused assets, and the tender bids for the island will start in February. The island is made of two islands on the southwest of the city of Kure. The northern island is up for sale and has around 7,600 square meters of real estate area. Before World War II, the island was home to a naval hospital, now barren.
