Not New York or Chicago, but it is Oklahoma City which may soon have America’s tallest skyscraper. To stand tall at 1,907 feet Legacy tower will house condos, hotels and commercial spaces.

Skyscrapers are status symbols for cities. Scot Matteson of Matteson Capital is ensuring Oklahoma City gets its crowning glory in the form of the tallest tower in the USA. The developer has secured a cool $1.5 billion in funds, and construction may begin in September on the Legends Tower. Standing 1,907 feet tall, the structure will include hotels, condos, along with commercial space. The Legacy Tower, which looks as imposing as it is impressive, will be designed by Californian architecture studio AO.

The fantastic plan involves the construction of a super-tall tower with three smaller towers around it. This cluster will be known as the Boardwalk at Bricktown. “We will be first getting a grading and infrastructure permit. And then we will get a building permit in September. The entire project is financed, including the tower — if the tower gets approved.” Yes, approval is the key word here if the United States is to get its tallest tower, which will also become the fifth tallest in the world.

Interestingly, even without the council’s approval, the Legacy Tower project will move forward. ‘If we don’t, we’ll just go back to the original plan of the 350-foot tower in the fourth building,’ Matteson said. ‘I’m used to this scepticism by the public and other people, but we have goals, and we seem to meet them all the time,’ Matteson said, per Dailymail.
