007 under the hammer

Movie magic is inevitable. And what better to make the most of it than to auction it. The names, Bond… James Bond. Everyone has their eyes glued to the charismatic Bondman but very few will have their hands glued to…not him but his possessions (what were you thinking?). This includes James Bond’s Lotus Esprit Turbo, driven by Roger Moore in the film, “For Your Eyes Only,” goes on sale for as much as $350,000 in a June 17 auction at Planet Hollywood in New York, London and Tokyo, Julien’s Auctions. The car from the 1981 movie is a prototype, making it the rarest Lotus, the Los Angeles-based auction house said in a statement. So this amalgamation will be cherished by both Lotus and Bond collectors unless they have anything between $250,000 and $350,000 as quoted. There is more in store as there will be 50 items from Bond’s early films with Sean Connery to recent movies starring Pierce Brosnan.

A ring is worn by killer Odd Job (Harold Sakata) in 1964’s “Goldfinger” will be offered by Sakata’s estate for as much as $10,000, and his steel-brimmed Derby hat has a top value of $30,000. If you get your hands on all of this I am sure James Bond will be more than happy to go on a ride with you… in the Lotus Esprit Turbo of course!
