Because what’s more heartwarming than watching a legendary musician take time offstage to start a family and, in Bono’s case, become a doting dad of four?

However it’s his second eldest child, Eve, who’s been in the spotlight a lot lately – but on her own terms. In fact, not many people even know that her dad is the U2 frontman, even though she’s already racked up an impressive acting roster that includes Tesla and Bad Sisters.

She is also known for not being afraid to call things out. The outspoken Irish starlet recently blasted The New York Times for mislabelling her nationality as “British” and took to Twitter to call out the mistake in capital letters: “OH DEAR @nytimesarts. WE ARE IRISH, PLEASE AND THANK YOU.”

In an interview with The Telegraph, the budding actress spoke out about her disappointing casting experiences, stating “whenever I read a script about ‘the most beautiful girl in the room’, I want to puke”.

So, who is she and what else has she been in?

Daughter of an activist and rock music icon
Hewson was born to Bono and Ali Hewson and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Her parents are childhood sweethearts and got married in the 1980s at the peak of U2’s fame.

According to the Irish Mirror, Eve’s mum Ali decided to put her nursing career on hold as U2 began to take off, and she went on to dedicate her life to humanitarian work and being a mother.

The children largely grew up out of the spotlight, something Eve has said she is grateful for. “I’m really lucky I didn’t grow up in London. I’m really lucky I didn’t grow up in LA. Being in Ireland and just how Irish people don’t care about fame, it’s not our currency at all … I think that really helped,” she told the Irish Times.

An impressive acting résumé
Hewson made her acting debut in 2008, with The 27 Club, but her first major role was in This Must Be the Place in 2011 with Sean Penn. It’s been a steady climb from there for the 31-year-old ever since, landing gigs with actors from Tom Hanks to Mila Kunis.

She was in The Knick with Clive Owen and Robin Hood with Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton. She also starred in the Dakota Fanning-directed short Hello Apartment.

She grew up around music legends
The perks of being a rock star’s daughter? Connections, of course! Growing up, it seems Hewson was introduced to celebrities left, right and centre. In one interview with Magic FM, she described her theory that Take That’s Robbie Williams “stole” her dance move for his “Rock DJ” music video.

She recalled how he had stayed with her family and she was a big dancer and would show off a special move for guests. “Then he went and made that music video, and that is the move! I swear he got that from me.”

Hewson also told Jimmy Fallon that she once “prank called” Justin Timberlake with her friend when she was 11 after she found his number in her family’s house.

She loves F1 – and is determined to join a Brad Pitt film about the sport
During her interview with Jimmy Fallon, Hewson expressed her love for binge-watching Formula One’s Drive to Survive Netflix series – and the “gorgeous” racers she follows.

She went on to reveal that Brad Pitt has the same manager as her, and that she knew he was working on an F1 film. At dinner with her manager, she said, “Get Brad Pitt on the phone right now”, she told the talk show host, adding that she was determined to get on the project even for a minor role in the background.

Pitt, a Hollywood veteran, even admitted he was a fan of Hewson after watching her in Behind Her Eyes. She finished off jokingly with, “If I’m not in that movie, give him hell next time you see him”.

A fashion icon – and Chanel enthusiast
Hewson has quickly become a style icon after appearing on numerous red carpets. But she has her eyes on one brand in particular: Chanel. In an interview with Vogue, she described her “obsession” with the French fashion house, saying “I just want Chanel all over me at all times”.

Yet despite her family’s incredible wealth – Bono alone is worth US$700 million, per Celebrity Net Worth – she didn’t get her first Chanel bag until she turned 19, according to Dujour. She also loves all things vintage, telling Vogue that sustainability comes first and it’s the right thing to do. “It’s not like there’s a shortage of great vintage dresses out there.”
