The star-studded closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics got a lot more special when Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise made a dramatic appearance at the Sunday night event. To mark the handover to Los Angeles, the Mission Impossible star, dressed in a leather jacket and gloves, rappelled down the roof of Paris’ Stade de France stadium and took over the Olympic flag. It was followed by a pre-recorded video of the 62-year-old actor leaving Paris with the flag in a C-130 military aircraft and skydiving onto the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.

While Cruise stole the show with his adrenaline-pumping stunt, the Hollywood sensation has been a regular at these summer Olympics. He was also spotted in the stands, rooting for gold-medal-winning US gymnast Simone Biles.

According to a report by Gala, the actor used his private jet, a Gulfstream G400 (previously known as Gulfstream IV), to fly to France during the Olympics. However, in his typical fashion, he chose to pilot the aircraft himself rather than enjoying the comfort of its luxurious cabin.

The Gulfstream G400 is one of the most spacious jets in its class.

Tom Cruise is not only famous for playing pilots in movies, but he’s also a skilled aviator in real life. He has held a private pilot’s license since 1994 and owns several aircraft, including a P-51 Mustang, a World War II-era fighter plane, and his Gulfstream.

Considering Cruise’s love for flying, it’s hardly a surprise that he chose to pilot his private jet himself on the way to France and back. In fact, the Gulfstream is an integral part of his life. As a celebrated international movie star with a busy schedule, the private jet gives him the flexibility to travel quickly and comfortably across the world.

However, the use of the aircraft also goes beyond his personal and professional travel. The Hollywood A-lister uses his Gulfstream to deliver the world’s most exclusive Christmas gifts from Los Angeles to his friends and co-stars. The list includes Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were sent Cruise’s favorite White Chocolate Coconut Bundt Cake’ from Doan’s Bakery in Woodland Hills, LA.

The actor’s Gulfstream IV, which costs an estimated $20 million, is a luxury jet known for its speed, range, and comfort. First introduced in 1985, the business jet has a maximum range of around 4850 miles. Powered by two Rolls-Royce jet engines, the Gulfstream IV can reach speeds of up to Mach 0.85 (561 mph).

However, Tom Cruise’s jet is not like any other Gulfstream IV. Exemplifying top-tier luxury, the jet features extensive customization to suit his personal preferences. The cabin can accommodate up to 19 passengers and is fitted with plush seats with wide backrests. There’s also a sofa that can be transformed easily into a bed. The bathroom is bigger than usual, while the aircraft also gets a jacuzzi. However, the highlight is the cinema room, where movies can be screened while cruising at 40,000 feet. The aircraft has everything to perfectly align with Tom Cruise’s high-flying lifestyle and his love for aviation.
