Hello Kitty may look like an adorable feline with a red bow (that she is!), but the character sure means business when it comes to collaborations. Proving so is Balenciaga’s collection that is inspired by the cartooned cat and is unlike anything that you may have encountered before!
Chic, playful and classic – the luxury Parisian brand’s new line-up includes a phone holder, an XXS tote and an XS camera bag amongst others. However, for us, it’s the medium Ville top-handle bag (costing a rather steep $2590!) that demands the most attention. Imprinted with the face of Yuko Shimizu’s beloved, the bag comes in chic white with a bulging bow in red sewn in the middle-top. The arm candy further features black and grey laces in place of the feline’s whiskers, which give it an added appeal.
This, however, isn’t the first time that the marquee has unveiled a collection inspired by the cartoon character. Early last year, Balenciaga unveiled Hello Kitty inspired bags for men at the Paris Fashion Week. Similarly, at Balenciaga’s spring, 2020 show in September, male models flaunted black, pink, and white versions of the brand’s iconic Ville bag, all decorated with the distinctive cartoon cat. As for the latest, Balenciaga’s Hello Kitty collection will drop in stores on Jan. 27. Keep an eye out for it!
