Arm candy of the week: Dior’s fun and functional Bobby bag

Christian Dior, the founder of one of the world’s top fashion houses, was a man full of artistic talents but also put his faith in clairvoyance which is a well-known fact. From heart-shaped talismans, a sprig of lily of the valley, a gold star, a four-leaf clover, and a piece of wood to naming Haute couture pieces and perfumes after his much-loved dog Bobby he has done it all. He believed in luck and luck favored him. For Dior’s Fall 2020 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri introduced a new silhouette to the French fashion house’s repertoire of It bags: the Dior Bobby which pays homage to the lovely pooch of the master himself. The Dior Bobby is a rounded flap that is similar to the D-fence bag with the classic CD logo. Got to admit, the Bobby offers the best size for a bag that’s meant to be functional, easy to strut around in while looking like a million bucks. The Dior Bobby is a sassy shoulder bag that’s well suited for today’s call for practicality. Its feminine curve and the ‘30 Montaigne’ address on the back, renders a subtle echo of the eponymous symbolic bag. If you like your bags small but not too small the Dior Bobby comes in a variety of sizes-small (18cm x 14cm x 5cm), medium (22cm x 17cm x 6cm), and large (27cm x 19.5cm x 8cm). Dior Bobby is undoubtedly one of their most versatile offerings that can be carried in the hand, worn on the shoulder, or cross-body thanks to its detachable shoulder straps. The bag comes in four colors – black, white, camel, and blue Dior Oblique canvas and the detachable straps come in matching leathers or an embroidered version. The fun centers around the possibility of mixing and matching the above mentioned for an unswerving couture result.

The bag is expected to launch in June 2020 and shows incredible potential in having a good run as an ‘It bag’. The future certainly holds several more variations that will grab our eyes and for good reason. For now, Dior Bobby bag will sell for S$3,900 for the large size, S$3,300 for medium, and $2,900 for the smallest size.
