Inden-ya and Pac-Man, two iconic Japanese names have announced their latest collaboration – a selection of leather products that will feature the popular Pac-Man using the popular Inden-ya craftsmanship. Inden-ya specializes in Koshu Inden, a traditional Japanese craft that uses lacquer-based printing on deerskin to jazz up leather products. Originally developed in India, the process was commonly used to produce parts of the samurai armor. With the armor falling short on demand, the company has shifted focus of their craftsmanship on producing accessories like wallets, coin purses and handbags.
This year as Pac-Man celebrates their 35th anniversary, Inden-Ya will bring to life the iconic mazes, ghosts and Pac-Man as prints on their leather products. The resulting lineup of products is sure to bring back memories, while also being playful and functional. The first run of purses, wallets and other accessories have already sold out and Inden-Ya will launch their second run, which will begin shipping out in June of 2016.
The products are all made using rich deer leather and feature a world-class lacquer finish. They are available in three colors – navy, black and red and include:
