TRUNKED Is The New Luxury Storage Sensation

I recently moved into a new apartment. And in doing up my home, I’ve realized two things – sleek, minimalistic and neutral furniture is key; furniture today needs to be about functionality, that in the case of my Mumbai flat means storage. So, when I came across Hong Kong-based company ‘TRUNKED by Louisa Lawless’, I was mighty impressed. I thought, here’s a modern woman who’s not only design-savvy and entrepreneurial, she understands other modern women. Under her aptly named label, TRUNKED, Lawless designs trunks chic enough to meet any discerning woman’s design expectations, and offers full bespoke and customization services.

Primarily an online store with shipping available to any destination worldwide, TRUNKED also has its products in the Four Seasons Hotel Boutique in Hong Kong and soon to be in Indigo Living stores in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Dubai. The trunks come in several styles and sizes, to fit a range of tastes and needs. There are currently two chief and chic designs – ‘The New Yorker Trunk’ this is for the girl who dreams of having a walk-in-wardrobe but doesn’t have the space. This product has been designed to store all accessories in one place, while making each easily accessible. And ‘The Parisian Trunk’, which is a hard-style vanity case, is perfect for travelling with as well as a neat addition to the dressing table. Handmade by expert furniture craftsmen, all trunks are upholstered in top grain European leather with velvet lining and stainless steel accents.

As most good ideas do, Louisa Lawless’ began with a desire to find a luxury storage solution for herself. An Australian living in Hong Kong for the past 11 years, Lawless is an interior designer who has worked for renowned design firms Hirsch Bedner, Gettys Group and SJB Interiors. Being so constrained with space, she was desperate to find a modern storage solution that not only looked beautiful but could also store all of her jewelry and accessories in one place. She pored over her options in the market and found that there are the top luxury brands making great furniture pieces but are overly expensive, or at the other end, there are really cheap brands with poor quality products, and nothing in between. Clearly there was a need in the market for a beautiful piece of furniture that is functional while still being affordable. Having been in the interior design industry for 16 years, she was able to work out how to bridge the gap. And thus, the idea of TRUNKED by Louisa Lawless was born.

The New Yorker Trunk – 550mm W x 480mm D x 1380mm H – is on castors so it’s easily transportable; it’s lockable and spacious; it not only holds and organizes one’s prized belongings but is also a statement piece of furniture. The Parisian Vanity Case – 280mm W x 190mm D x 210mm H – is ideal for stashing make-up, everyday jewelry or skincare.
A third style, a medium-sized counter-top jewelry case is due out later this year. Being customizable, they’re each available in almost all colors imaginable, and can be designed and monogrammed to cater to both cosmopolitan men and women. It’s luxury at an affordable price.
