Casio to launch a luxury calculator for $225

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first calculator Casio will be launching a very special calculator. No bigger than a normal calculator it performs all the standard arithmetic operations, but that is where the difference ends. The Casio S100 looses the die-plastic for something much more exotic, it uses an aluminium alloy for the casing which is precisely cast using ‘diamond cut treatment’. The company has used an industry first “V-shaped gear link slim isolation keys.” with an unique gear link structure which deliver a uniform experience no matter which part of the key you press. If this was not enough it makes use of the industry first display window with a double-sided antireflection coating which us paired with a high-contrast LCD so even under direct sunlight the display is clearly available.

Though not as absolute as fax machines, calculators still find a place on the desk of many-a-businesses. Some of them would be passionate enough to spend $225 on the worlds first luxury calculator. Only 5000 pieces of the Casio S100 will be hitting stores in Japan at the end of this month.
