Leica’s gold-plated Limited Edition MP Golden Camera for golden moments


It’s not every day that a country sheds its communist traits to become a republic. And not only did China manage the great feat, but it completed 60 years as the Peoples’ Republic of China in 2009. Such an event deserves a celebration, and Leica, for the occasion, has introduced a Limited Edition MP Golden Camera. The camera will also include the Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 Gold lens. The entire set is plated in 24-carat gold. The body of the camera is also covered by Leica Red Box Calf leather.

The camera will have a Mao Zedong style front type in red calligraphy and Tiananmen Square pattern. The camera will have only 60 versions on sale spotting serial numbers starting from the year 1949 to 2009. Each set is priced at $29,284 will be contained in a luxury wooden box and will be available in China alone.
