Celebrations are underway at the house of Damiani, which is turning 90 this year. And while that must prove a great source of excitement to luxury jewelry enthusiasts, there’s something in there for Hong Kong-based or frequenting gastronomy buffs as well. To honor the high jewelry label, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong Chef Pino Lavarra has created a five-course dinner menu that respects and reflects the traditions of Damiani. This may, however, not come as much of a surprise to those who remember the collaboration over jewelry-inspired afternoon tea.
Not long after the release of Damiani’s 90th Anniversary Collection, a limited edition consisting of ten jewelry pieces, Michelin-starred Chef Pino Lavarra has designed a menu with a modern style that follows in the collection’s luxe footsteps. 9 pieces, numbered 1 to 9, from the anniversary collection are the Charleston collier, Cascade bracelet, Legend bracelet, Optical earrings, Bloom necklace, Tribute bracelet, Moonshine ring, Damianissima collier and Tassel necklace. And the five-course menu kicks off with a Cascade 1930s-inspired appetizer. Its flow of alternating black and white diamonds can be distinctly noted and tasted in what is a Cured Salmon with Beluga Caviar and White Snail Caviar combination.
The other, a Legend 1940s bracelet, meanwhile has its bearing in austere, military-style fashion, a reference, which can be found within Chef Pino’s Chickpeas Cream Sauce glazed golden Crispy Monkfish. The Fettuccelle with Sea Scallops, Lobsters and Tomatoes, on the other hand, incorporates the colored stones of the floral motif featured in the Bloom 1970s necklace. The artistic highlight of the menu, however, remains the Stewed Oxtail Served on Potato Filled with Foie Gras, an Optical 1960s earrings inspired preparation. And lastly, the dessert, Chocolate Ring Hazelnuts with Five Spices Sauce, denotes the special hand-cut amethyst, citrine, Madera quartz and prasiolite of the Tribute 1980s bracelet.
Priced at HKD 1,880 ($240) per person, “The Damiani 90th Anniversary Celebration” menu will be available from October 15 – November 30 (except November 6-8) in Tosca at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. Guests can also indulge in the special menu with a special rate for the Deluxe Suite at HKD 9, 880 ($1,275) per night for two while relaxing in the world’s highest hotel.
