The 87th Annual Academy Awards promise to be a star studded affair every year and some of the movies nominated at this year’s ceremony have inspired their very own cocktails! The Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong is hosting a glamorous Oscars viewing party this year and trimmings include a red carpet lined entrance, brunch canapés, free flowing champagne (not just any champagne! Moët and Chandon Rosé Imperial, because only the best will do!) as well as exclusive cocktails inspired by four Oscar nominated movies, namely- American Sniper, Boyhood, Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
The Birdman inspired cocktail is a blend of Hennessy V.S.O.P, Mancino dry vermouth, Cointeau, and Angostura bitters while the Boyhood inspired one is a comforting mix of Earl-grey infused gin, Crème de gingerbread, Crème de cacao brown, cinnamon, fresh milk. Double barreled Manhattan whisky, Angostura bitters, orange and lemon elements comprise the American Sniper cocktail which is served with a golden bullet made from homemade chocolate for a touch of danger. Finally the Grand Budapest Hotel cocktail is crafted from Belvedere vodka, grape, lychee liqueur, blue curacao liqueur, champagne, grapefruit bitters and topped with another gilt covered chocolate element, in this case, an elaborate key.
