Proof – This Indonesian bakery creates the worlds most elaborate wedding cakes

When it comes to celebrations, lavish cakes are a given. While the majority of us would love to gorge on a luscious piece of cake at any point in time, the rare one percent of the non-cake loving clan would also change their minds after seeing the decadent, spectacular and jaw-dropping creations at LeNovelle Cakes – a family run bakery in Jakarta, Indonesia that specializes in epic wedding cakes. From fairy-tale castles to glazed cathedrals and pagodas up to 7 meters tall, the bakery creates impressive cakes that are as much a treat for the eyes as or the taste buds.

Founded in 1993 as a neighborhood cake business selling birthday cakes to friends and family, the now world-famous bakery has grown at an enormous rate, creating masterpieces that take up to 24 people working 12 hours a day for over a month to complete. Most of their creations measure around 7-meters-tall and can weigh dozens of pounds, often needing a truck to be carried around! The largest of their cakes, in fact needed five trucks and a total of eight man hours for transportation and assembly! Further, to make the cakes look all the more eye-catching, LeNovelle often fits them with lighting and bulbs.

However, sadly enough, these breathtaking castles are only party edible as many of the detailed elements are made from Styrofoam which is then coated with fondant icing and decorated with sugar paste flowers. Prices for LeNovelle Cake’s elaborate creations start at $5,000, but the most expensive one they’ve ever made was sold for a whopping $500,000. Fancy some castle cake?
