Boutique hotel chain citizenM gears up to establish Asia footprint – Shanghai and Taipei on the cards!

Close on the heels of a luxurious property launch in London, contemporary boutique hotel brand citizenM is now preparing to set foot into Asia, as an extension of the brand’s global expansion efforts. The brand’s new upcoming properties in Shanghai’s Hongqiao MixC development in the Hongqiao area; and Taipei’s North Gate close to Ximending Shopping district; are both scheduled to debut early next year, and it is said that the latter will be a sprawling 260-room property. This adds to citizenM’s list of existing properties in New York, Paris, London Bankside, Glasgow, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

Owned by Shun Tak Holdings, a Hong Kong conglomerate, Artyzen Hospitality Group has bagged the contract to launch, operate and manage these two citizenM hotels in Asia, the brand’s firsts in the region. While Artyzen becomes the Asian joint venture partner for citizenM, upcoming projects are also being considered in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.

Rattan Chadha, CEO of citizenM, says that they look forward to leveraging this new joint venture with Artyzen Hospitality Group to open the region’s first citizenM property in Taipei next year, and that Shanghai would also follow shortly. Chadha further elaborated how this move is aimed to build citizenM’s regional presence and extend the brand’s state-of-the-art hotel experience to the dynamic Asian market.
