Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison has added another extravagant gem to his impressive collection of luxury hotels, which already includes the Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort; Nobu Ryokan Malibu; Nobu Hotel Palo Alto; and Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. The tech tycoon has acquired the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa from the Lewis family. Located just south of Palm Beach in Manalapan, this iconic property dates back to the 1950s and was originally known as La Coquille Club before becoming the Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach. It was rebranded as Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa a decade ago.
Over the years, Palm Beach’s most renowned oceanfront destinations have welcomed figures from the Vanderbilts to the Fords and Rockefellers. The resort has consistently earned the Forbes Five-Star Resort rating and has been recognized for ten years for its celebrated Eau Spa. The historic La Coquille Club remains a highlight of the property, renowned for its exquisite meals, receptions, and amenities, including pools, a beach, a fitness center, and a spa. As the world’s seventh richest man, Ellison boasts a net worth of $159.8 billion, according to Forbes.
“Our family feels privileged to have been a successful part of the Eau Palm Beach story,” Simon Lewis, principal of the Lewis Trust Group, said in a statement. “Although we are saddened to end our tenure, we are pleased to know that Larry Ellison will cherish the resort and lead its team to even greater heights. While we leave behind countless memories and friends, we will always remember our long association with Manalapan with gratitude and pride.” This purchase follows Ellison’s 2022 acquisition of a 22-acre property in Manalapan, Florida, for $173 million, marking the most expensive residential property transaction in Florida history.
