Suite of the week: The Historic Charlie Chaplin Suite at the Sofitel Legend Metropole, Hanoi

Many visit Vietnam for its rich history, diverse culture, and quintessential natural landscapes. If you plan to do so once your travel plans get back on track, then your experience must be enriched by staying at one of the most sought-after historic luxury landmark called the ‘Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi’. The hotel opened its gates in 1901 and has been one of the grandest and a popular choice ever since. Luckily for guests, the hotel still retains its original grandness, its colonial glory in the historical Metropole Wing; new-age stylish neo-classical elegance is observed in the newer Opera Wing. We are gung ho about the suite located on the third floor of the Metropole wing. The Charlie Chaplin Suite as it is called (after the comedian spent his honeymoon here back in April 1936) is a romantic haven where early 1920s French interior décor befriends Vietnamese style. The room will take you back in a time of which you have only heard stories of. Lending the room that historic touch are parquet floors, louver windows, timeless ceiling fans which aren’t seen commonly in hotels these days. History is evident in the littlest details like century-old wood fittings and porcelain lighting fixtures. Guests staying in the Charlie Chaplin Suite enjoy benefits of club Metropole which include breakfast, Wifi in-room and throughout the public area, high tea, evening cocktails, meeting space, local calls, tea & coffee. The bathroom is very spacious and can be a place of utmost relaxation with Jacuzzi and incredible Hermes bath amenities. Guests staying at the suite not only enjoy 24-hour butler service and VIP amenities but can take home a piece of the hotel history in the form of a book as a gift.

The 5-star Sofitel Legend Metropole is very ideally located right in the heart of Hanoi; 161 m from the famous Hanoi Opera House, and less than 500 m away from the scenic Hoan Kiem Lake. The hotel will also take you on a gastronomic journey with their Paris-inspired cafe La Terrasse, the multi-award-winning French restaurant Le Beaulieu or for a more local experience, the Vietnamese restaurant Spices Garden.
