All that glitters is gold, especially in Dubai where even currency is now gold-plated. It cannot be used as money, but it sure does feel good to strut around with a 24-karat wad of Dubai-themed notes. Dian Jewellery, in collaboration with Finmet DMCC and Valaurum, has introduced Dubai’s first 24K gold note souvenir, which pays homage to the emirate’s love for the metal along with featuring Dubai’s iconic skyline and noted landmarks. Each note contains 0.1 grams of 24 karat gold on the inside.

Dian Jewellery founder Rahul Sagar said, “We are thrilled to introduce Dubai’s first-ever 24K gold note souvenir, a testament to our dedication to innovation and our rich heritage of gold craftsmanship. Our goal is to celebrate Dubai’s splendor while offering a timeless keepsake for residents and visitors.” Like in the case of real money, each 24-karat note is distinguished by a unique serial number and comes with a commemorative cover.

The founder even explained the process and the genuineness of the note,
“What makes it unique is the fact that through this patented process, we’re able to capture real 24K gold in a flexible note, and the gold can actually be recovered. Upon professional fire assay, you can actually recover the 0.1g of 24K gold from the note. Whereas gold-plated items or notes are dipped into a solution that has a very small content of gold and this gold fades off and can’t be recovered even if it is melted.”

It is priced at Dhs159 or $43 per piece and can be bought at Dian Jewellery and Shantilal Jewellers (SCS) in Dubai Gold Souk.
