Now, this is the most unbelievable news! The World’s Richest Person is not from U.S or Middle East or other European countries but from India! Billionaire Mukesh Ambani on Monday became the richest person in the world, surpassing American software czar Bill Gates, Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim Helu and famous investment guru Warren Buffett. Earlier on September 26, Ambani had overtaken steel czar Lakshmi Mittal to become the richest Indian in the world. All this shuffling is due to the ups and downs in the stock market. Following a strong share price rally today in his three group companies — India’s most valued firm Reliance Industries, Reliance Petroleum, and Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd — the net worth of Mukesh Ambani rose to 63.2 billion dollars (Rs 2,49,108 crore). Ambani, 50, chairman of Reliance Industries, as India’s premier capitalist is directing sprawling business operations that include petrochemicals, oil refining, textiles, retail, and biotechnology. Recently he has been in news due to his ONE BILLION DOLLAR HOME which is on its way to completion.
Here’s how the Indian press reports rank the world’s top five richest people as of today, based on known public stock holdings:
* Mukesh Ambani – $63.2 billion
* Carlos Slim Helu – $62.2993 billion
* William (Bill) Gates – $62.29 billion
