Luxury retailer Net-A-Porter goes offline, launches consumer powered Porter magazine

Luxury e-tailer Net-A-Porter has spread its cyber wings. The online retailer has launched a fashion magazine, which integrates the worlds of retail and publishing. Aptly named Porter, the glossy print offspring hit newsstands today. With an app in tow that allows users to scan and shop items from the magazine pages!

But getting back to fashion, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen coquettishly snuggles on the cover in a red Chanel crop top. Meanwhile, the ‘O’ of the masthead coyly reads, “powered by Net-A-porter.com”. This last bit could give Anna Wintour a run for her Vogue money. Especially once the digital edition is available to download from 14 February.

Spearheaded by editor-in-chief Lucy Yeoman, the print has a digital sibling, which won’t be unaccompanied by similar e-commerce features. It’ll allow fashionistas to click through and purchase the items they fancy, without having to search through Net-A-Porter. A move that may not only up the savvy of the website but the ante for those who thought Old Media’s days were done.
