When diamonds fall off your rings, you’re rich like most people. When they fall right out of your mouth, you’re Post Malone. The musician once bit into some chicken in Rome and saw his $600,000 diamond fang fall right out of his mouth. Can’t say if it was the chicken that was rotten or his luck, as one of the two diamonds embedded in his tooth went right down the sewer drain.

“I had the left one in my hand, and I dropped it right into the sinkhole,” Post Malone recalls in Esquire’s latest cover story. “I’m like, I’m going to have to go into the ancient Roman sewers.’” He may be Post Malone, but he didn’t ditch his old diamonds for new ones. What followed was the musician turning into an engineer crafting a scooping device from a pair of pliers and a takeout-pizza tripod.
