Serendipity 3 restaurant creates world’s most expensive hot dog

Usually, a hot dog is considered an affordable snack setting you back by just a few dollars. But not if you were present at Manhattan’s Serendipity 3 restaurant on National Hot Dog Day. To mark this day, the restaurant turned the affordable and simply delectable snack into a high-end item by creating the world’s most expensive hot dog. At $69, the hot dog has also found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world’s most expensive hot dog. Prepared by head chef Joe Calderone, this world-record-holding hot dog comes with truffle oil, a salted pretzel bed, truffle butter, duck foie gras, Dijon mustard, Vidalia onions, and ketchup.

Trudy Tant, who visited the restaurant on National Hot Dog Day, was the lucky customer who willingly shelled out the $69 asking price for the foot-long hot dog. Restaurant owner Bruce said he chose to set a hot dog record because the frank is as American as apple pie.
The hot dog now joins the likes of other ordinary food items that were turned into high-end dishes.
