Review: Fairmont Dubai: Where understated luxury meets exemplary hospitality

I had heard that love comes in all guises. For me, I found it in the mesmerizing Fairmont Dubai which with its exceptional staff and understated luxury that cast its spell on me. Modeled after an Arabic wind tower (barajeel), this 34 story property features 394 guestrooms (including 146 suites and luxury penthouses), residential apartments and offices as well as its premier Fairmont Gold ‘hotel within a hotel’ product, 13 dining and entertainment venues, The Spa and two terraced rooftop swimming pools.

Snacking at the Gold Lounge

Checking in luxury
Fairmont Dubai has the highest Gold Lounge out of all the Fairmont properties across the world. I was lucky to be staying a Fairmont Gold Suite and had the privilege to skip the check-in queue. After some eclectic snacks at the lounge, I made my way to my suite which was replete with a fluffy and swanky bedroom, cushioned living room and a sumptuous bath-room. My check-in was further accentuated by my butler Nirbhay Vishnoi who personalized my welcome experience with a photo frame of me, my favourite macaroons and cheesecakes that still make me drool.

Foodie delights and TLC
I loved spending my time on the 33rd-floor Gold Lounge, which provides delish food and drinks throughout the day. I also headed here for six o’clock sun-dowers and found that the views of the neon-lit city just drop dead gorgeous. It was also a weekend where I alternated between the gorgeous pool and marshmallow-soft bed.

I also spent time at The Spa which features Roman columns and mosaics in the male and female wet zones, each with a steam room, sauna, whirlpool tub and hammam. During my time here, needless to say that my intuitive therapist ensured that I was in spa heaven through the course of my hour-long massage. And it quickly became one of my favourite spas in the city. I would also recommend a blow-dry at Samer Hair Studio where the team weaves their magic with your tresses.

For my foodie experience, I opted to go for a dine-in-the-dark experience at Noire. And I must admit that experiencing a 5-star gourmet cuisine in a pitch-black dining room was a one-of-its kind experience. The servers here use state of the art night vision goggles to help guests on their way throughout the restaurant, and to assist diners with their multi-sensory experience. While the food is downright fantastic, the staff here makes dining at Noire so much fun yet ensure it is extremely safe.

Verdict
Amidst chilling in the swimming pool, having a spa-rty and gorging on food that presented the vibrant culture of the city, time melted like mist. As I bid adieu to the magnificent resort and its gracious staff, my body, spirit and mind felt pampered in equal measure. Smitten by my experience, we’re already planning my next stay here and you can’t blame me!
