This stunning 2019 Bugatti Chiron Sport was recently up for auction on Bring a Trailer and was snapped up by a lucky person for just $3,495,000. While there’s no doubt that $3.5 million is a lot of money, it’s practically a steal to buy a beautifully specced example of the Chiron Sport at the price. Not convinced? Let me explain. Bugatti introduced the Chiron in 2016 as a successor to the Veyron.
Named after the Monégasque driver Louis Chiron, the hypercar’s design was initially previewed with the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. With the production capped at just 500 examples, 200 build slots of the Chiron were sold before the first car was delivered. In 2018, the French marque unveiled Chiron Sport, a track-focused version of the hypercar limited to just 60 units.
The Chiron Sport is mechanically identical to the standard version, including the 8-liter quad-turbo W16 engine that produces 1480hp. However, it’s 40 pounds lighter thanks to a sportier exhaust system and the extensive use of carbon fiber. It also features a stiffer suspension and modified steering for better performance on the race track, making it highly desirable.
The upgrades over the regular Chiron cost an extra $400,000. The Chiron Sport became available in late 2018 with a base price of $3.4 million.
Coming back to the recently auctioned example of the Chiron Sport, it features a beautiful dual-tone exterior combining red and black exposed carbon fiber. It rides on staggered-width Nocturne Course wheels with polished aluminum accents and is wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. Additionally, the hypercar is fitted with carbon-ceramic rotors and features Granade red titanium calipers.
On the inside, the hypercar has Beluga Black carbon-fiber Comfort seats, Hot Spur contrast stitching, matching leather upholstery, and a seven-speaker Accuton stereo. All the options could easily push the price tag beyond $4 million. Furthermore, the Chiron only has 451 miles on the odometer, making it practically unused. Now you see why this Chiron Sport was a steal at $3.5 million.
