The color experts at Pantone pop up in our collective consciousness but once a year: when they announce their much anticipated “color of the year” (more often if you’re a Pinterest addict!), but this year they’re making a big and colorful splash with a collaboration that is nothing if not memorable. Pantone and Bentley have together launched 2 Continental GT V8 Convertibles in Rose Quartz and Serenity, which are the colors of the year.
Pantone’s colors are always a huge part of fashion, beauty, and interior design, but this year they will also take the auto industry by storm. These custom cars have been launched in honor of the opening of Bentley’s flagship dealership in Frankfurt, Germany. The gentle pastel colors are soothing and also reflect the blurring of gender boundaries in the areas of fashion and design.
“We are thrilled that Bentley Frankfurt has approached us with this idea of unique car designs,” says Kathryn Shah, VP of Pantone’s Global Marketing. “The modern and sophisticated version of a Bentley is the ideal surface to bring the winners from the Pantone color of the year.”
You may not be used to seeing the Continental GT V8 Convertible in these candy colors, but they certainly command attention. With a redesigned front spoiler and rear diffuser as well as a four-layer retractable hardtop roof (which allows the car to accommodate four riders even when the roof is closed) these cars are as functional as they are beautiful.
