The Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 has just wrapped up, offering yachting enthusiasts six days of action. Set around Cannes’ Vieux Port and Port Canto, the show featured nearly 700 boats from 5-metres to 50-metres alongside some of the biggest players in the yachting industry. New yachts from leading shipbuilders were on show, including several global debuts, alongside some of the world’s finest brokerage yachts for sale and charter, offering a superb selection for those interested in buying a yacht or chartering one.
But which yachts captured the attention of attendees? Here, we look at some of the biggest and most spectacular superyachts at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival.
1 – M/Y BAGLIETTO T52 – new yacht
At 52-metres, the T52 displacement yacht model was the largest superyacht at Cannes, turning heads for its striking good looks and sporty lines. Enjoying its global debut at the show, the T52 yacht boasts naval architecture by Baglietto and an interior design penned by Francesco Paszkowski Design in collaboration with Margherita Casprini.
The yacht model is the first from Baglietto to feature a sophisticated hybrid propulsion system, a notable development in the luxury Italian shipyard’s path towards sustainable yachting. This future-proof luxury yacht offers top-tier amenities, elegant styling, and pioneering technology, all combined with flexible living spaces that offer the utmost comfort. With a range of 4,800 nautical miles, this superyacht is built for ocean cruising and enjoying extended periods at sea.
2 – M/Y BARTALI – brokerage yacht
Exhibited by Moravia Yachting, part of the Hill Robinson Group, M/Y BARTALI is an exceptional aluminium 47.05-metre superyacht for sale launched in 2016 by Wilder Yachts in Italy and one of the 2023 CYS biggest yachts. The yacht is hailed for its clever use of space, interior volume, stunning sculptural exterior by Fulvio De Simoni, and operational efficiencies, garnering multiple awards, including wins at the 2016 World Superyacht Awards and 2017 Showboats Design Awards.
She is one of the most desirable yachts for sale in her class, garnering significant attention at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Her sophisticated diesel-electric power system helps to minimise the yacht’s carbon footprint while contributing to a smoother and quieter cruising experience. Shipbuilder Wilder Yachts is known for disrupting conventional yacht design. Highlights include an extended aft deck located off the upper salon, folding balconies, and an impressive stern beach club that doubles as a tender dock and swimming pool. Her trans-Atlantic 4,800 nautical mile range puts remote regions of the world within reach, making this a true go-anywhere vessel.
3 – M/Y UVII – new yacht
Luxury Italian superyacht builder Palumbo Superyachts exhibited the 44.3-metre motor yacht UV II, an exquisite ISA GT 45 luxury vessel. This new yacht for sale was launched this year and has been built on a proven platform that combines exceptional performance with luxurious amenities. Her naval architecture is by Palumbo Superyachts’ Enrico Gobbi, while her stunning interiors are by Luca Dini, with every aspect of the vessel designed to ensure a truly memorable experience at sea. Her features include a beach club, a generously sized swim platform, a Jacuzzi, and spacious decks and living areas for relaxing and socialising.
4 – M/Y BARON TRENCK – brokerage yacht
The 43.50-metre 2011 Eurocraft expedition vessel BARON TRENCK was one of the biggest yachts at the CYF, exhibited by brokerage Camper & Nicholsons. Tailor-made for adventure, BARON TRENCK is equally at home cruising the tropics as she is the icy waters of the Atlantic. Despite her rugged go-anwyhere exterior, she boasts all the luxuries of a traditional superyacht, including a sun deck with a Jacuzzi, sumptuous interior salons, and six well-presented cabins, including a full-beam master suite with an adjacent office and walk-in wardrobe. A key feature of BARON TRENCK is her small draft – just 3-metres – enabling her to access shallow bays for a true exploration experience. She is also equipped with at-anchor stabilisers, ensuring the utmost comfort at sea.
5 – M/Y OCEANIC 143 – new yacht
The OCEANIC 143 made her debut appearance at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival. The yacht is the flagship of the Oceanic Line by Rome-based luxury yacht builder Canados. This fast, 43.4-metre expedition vessel marries the comfort of a luxury yacht, the speed of a fast planing hull, and all the advantages of an expedition vessel. With an impressive 6,000 nautical mile range, she is designed for adventurers exploring off-the-beaten-track destinations.
Her twin-stepped hull design is by Arrabito Naval Designer, while her interior is by the Rome-based designer Michela Reverberi. Highlights include a private owner’s deck, a spacious transom garage, and a shallow draft of just 2.10-metres, enabling her to access shallow bays.
6 – M/Y GENESIS – brokerage yacht
Yacht brokerage Camper & Nicholsons showcased the 43.12-metre motor yacht for sale GENESIS, one of the biggest CYF yachts. This luxury open yacht was designed by Andrea Bacigalupo and built by Italyachts in 2011. Presented in turnkey condition, she recently completed her 10-year class survey. Her contemporary interior is by the famed Cristiano Gatto, featuring exquisite ebony wood and marble throughout.
Her many features include a Jacuzzi, a fully equipped bar, a dedicated al fresco dining area, and a spacious aft garage that is home to a 5.3-metre tender and multiple water toys. Her clever layout and design means she is one of the most voluminous yachts in her class. With a top speed of 32 knots, she is perfectly suited to island-hopping adventures.
7 – M/Y OREOS – new yacht
Luxury yacht builder Benetti showcased the 40.8-metre OREOS, the latest yacht from the shipbuilder’s highly popular Oasis 40m yacht series. The superyacht series has been purposefully built with wellness in mind, offering owners a dynamic and informal lifestyle while cruising some of the world’s most sought-after destinations. Luxury yacht builder Benetti has redefined the whole stern of this yacht model, creating an open-air lounge on the sea without limits.
Guests can enjoy an expansive deck area with an infinity swimming pool, dedicated lounging and sunbathing areas, and a swim platform for effortless access to the water. M/Y OREOS has been designed to foster a greater connection with nature, while the yacht’s striking interior by New York firm Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture is characterised by a chic and minimalist elegance. With an exterior styling by award-winning British design studio RWD, OREOS turned heads for all the right reasons.
8 – M/Y S7 – brokerage yacht
The triple award-winning expedition yacht S7 sealed its position as one of the most striking and biggest CYF yachts. Built by Tansu Yachts in 2016 and exhibited by brokerage TWW Yachts, this 39.3-metre charter yacht not only looks great with her distinctive militant styling but also offers best-in-class performance and onboard comfort. She is a highly sought-after charter vessel with adventurers wishing to make the most of their time on the water. She has a considerable amount of outdoor space, including an incredible sun deck complete with a central bar and sliding sunroof. Her elongated aft deck is the ideal spot for launching her many water toys, while her transom can transform into an oversized beach club while at anchor.
9 – M/Y CHARADE – brokerage yacht
The luxury 38-metre motor yacht CHARADE turned heads at the Cannes Yachting Festival for her striking design. The Benetti built yacht for sale was exhibited by yacht brokerage Arcon Yachts. Delivered in 2018, CHARADE boasts striking exterior styling by Stefano Righini Design and a contemporary interior designed by the British design studio RWD.
As part of Benetti’s Fast 125 series, CHARADE is built with speed in mind, with a patented displacement to planing hull design. Her five stateroom configuration, including an over-sized full-beam master suite, accommodates up to 11 guests, while her multiple salons and exterior deck spaces provide ample space for entertaining or relaxing. A highlight is her voluminous flybridge, with dedicated areas for dining and sunbathing, and her side-opening tender garage, equipped with the latest water toys.
10 – Azimut Grande Trideck – new yacht
The 38-metre Azimut Grande Trideck was on display at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival and was one of the biggest yachts showcased. This new yacht is Azimut’s flagship yacht, featuring incredible design and engineering. Her naval design is by Azimut Yachts, her stylish exterior is penned by Alberto Mancini Yacht Design, and her custom interiors are courtesy of Salvagni Architetti. A key differentiator of Azimut’s new Grande Trideck is her ‘three decks + one’ concept, a new half-raised aft deck that expands the boundaries of the classic triple-deck yacht design, creating four cascading terraces that are designed to liberate life onboard, providing a multitude of flexible living spaces.
The yacht’s highly efficient displacement to planing hull, coupled with the extensive use of carbon fibre, ensures the Azimut Grande Trideck is highly efficient, with reduced CO2 emissions by up to 30%.
